Mach4 is not designed for a specific motion control device and will need a plugin and motion control board to operate a CNC system. Vital Systems and Galil have plugin’s available for motion control and are the recommended choices for industrial systems. LazyCam Pro (Beta) – License

Due to the availability of other, more mature, low cost CAM packages, LazyCam development has ceased and it will remain in permanent Beta status. LazyCam is not intended – and not supported – for use in a production environment.

LazyCam is a BETA-release free importer included with Mach3. It’s purpose is to import standard dxf, cmx, and other file types to allow those that do not use CAM programs to more easily generate Gcode to be run under Mach3. The Basic (free) edition of LazyCam that is included with Mach3 carries no cost, but will only output 50 lines of gcode if Mach3 is running in Demo mode. There is an optional PRO level upgrade that turns on advanced features such as object offsetting, pocketing, etc. As the software is BETA, not all features are fully functional – please thoroughly test your files before purchasing a Pro license!

(Note: Requires the “.net 2.0 update” from Microsoft to prevent an error at startup.)

Mach3 Addons – License

The Addons is a collection of tools to generate G-code for the manufacturing of parts. This collection makes surfacing, cutting circles, squares, and drilling patterns, etc. much easier for a typical user. The Addons is integrated in Mach3 through the wizard feature, giving those running a machine the ability to quickly complete a task without needing Advanced G-code knowledge. Simply click the options, describing the measurements of a feature, and the appropriate G-code is created to make the cuts.

This add on for Mach3 is sure to minimize the time it takes to go from “start to part”.

Parallel Port Legacy Plugin for Mach4

The parallel port is obsolete on most new computers. We do not recommend using the parallel port with Mach4 as performance is reduced by both this data connection and the processing and memory power of older computers. This plugin is mainly for users who wish to upgrade from Mach3 to Mach4 and continue to use the parallel port as they have done in the past. Please review the recommended system requirements before purchasing. Mach3 was primarily designed for the parallel port which has become obsolete. We do not recommend using the parallel port (without a motion control board) with Mach4 as performance is reduced by both this data connection and the processing and memory power of older computers. Currently, Vital Systems and PMDX have plugin’s available for motion control. Please visit their websites to purchase a board or download the plugin that is needed for use with Mach4.
